Hillside House, eastern suburbs of Melbourne
This project is a major transformation of a 1970’s split level brick veneer house built at the top and rear of a very steep block. The original house was retained with minor alterations. The additions extend towards the front of the house and give if a whole new front facade.
A new garage (including storage space) has been constructed in the location of the original carport. The lounge / living area has been extended forward with more internal space and an outdoor living area. There are good views across the road and gully to the parkland opposite. The living area and “alfresco” area can be combined by opening up the folding window walk. There is also an upper balcony outside a smaller sitting area.
